**Every once in awhile I do a post about all the little things in life. All the random pictures that don’t get their own post and are often imperfect, for documentation and because the little things bring the most joy. ** We got to celebrate this amazing man’s 79th birthday. He still works with his horses and cows everyday — goals right there, not to work with cows necessarily, just to be that healthy 🙂 –Here he is with a portion of his 80 descendants. It’s such a priviledge to live by them. Visiting Daddy at work. They go through a lot of water bottles. It’s the closest my kids will get to one of those old fashioned ball pits. Don’t worry every once in awhile someone recycles them:) Bedtime. Don’t they look so calm?Continue Reading
September Little Things Part 2
In September we also went to feed the ducks. Max is always stylish no matter the occasion. We painted our upstairs white, and added a pattern on two of the walls. It was terrible, so much work, and my lack of perfectionism and Justin’s perfectionism may have caused some friction. But it’s done and beautiful. Pictures coming soon. Chica went on a date with her Dad to Fiesta Fun and got a record number of tickets for her $3 spent. She spent most of them on a smiley face mug – it’s a treasure.Continue Reading
September Little Things – Part 1
We’ve been enjoying the California sun this last week – home at midnight last night. Today is re-entry. Re-entry can be brutal. We woke up at 8, and had to have everyone out the door at 8:30. Whew- we made it, and with no tears, at least no tears from the kids so I consider that an accomplishment.
I just spent the last hour making phone calls, figuring out our schedule for the week, setting up appointments etc. Now I’m procrastinating unpacking and getting dressed by going through our September pictures. Sometimes procrastination is OK. These pictures remind me of what a beautiful life I’m blessed with.
Justin and I got a rare, out of focus, and weirdly lighted picture of us together, so I had to document it – Thanks Anna. Max spends a lot of time building in our entryway. I love that his hands are still a little bit chubby. Chica discovered that I could go eat lunch with her, FOR FREE – said with the utmost excitement. So Max and I have joined her a couple of times. Josh usually waves at us nonchalantly from across the room.Continue Reading
End of Summer Little Things
This is one of the worst pictures ever…. that’s why I included it. Way back in July, before we headed down to the magical week at the beach, we got to go to my niece’s magical baptism. The part where I filled in for the opening song – was maybe not so magical, but it was done with love.
That same trip, our kids also got their first trip to Cheesecake Factory. It was a hit. This guy had the last swim meet of the season. He took 1st in back stroke, scratched in freestyle and took 2nd by .01 seconds in the breast stroke. He was pretty excited. We got to watch Jackson (my nephew) while his parents were in the temple for a wedding. Isn’t that the cutest outfit he has on? We go to the library a lot. At least once a week, and every time we are there, these statues appear that look just like Anna and Max. The only problem is I can never find Anna and Max to show them the statues. It’s very frustrating. There used to be one that looked like Josh, but it’s disappeared and the real Josh is not impressed with all the appearing/disappearing statues. These three crazies and myself took a road trip up North (without a DVD player) to meet our newest nephew. Junie B. Jones and Subway Surfer saved us. This newest nephew is quite adored. Here he is only 5 days old, and so beautiful in his newness. We didn’t want to stress out the new Mom so we headed a little farther North to have a sleep over with the ever fabulous Auntie Jessie and Jackson. She has a very cozy air mattress just for the record, and even serves waffles for breakfast. Then we headed down to meet some cousins at the park for swings, tricks and some hide and go seek tag (my personal favorite game). Uncle Adam missed us while we were gone and decided to tattoo Max’s foot. Max was very sad when it washed off. We babysat Max’s best buddy one Saturday. They were very excited to pick out some movies from the library. Unfortunately one of them didn’t make it home with us. Don’t ever look at the total amount that you’ve paid the library… just don’t. And if you do remember that it’s over the span of 5 years..
Josh decided to cut his hair off, right before school started. He and Uncle Adam are now twins. This cute boy and I drowned our sadness in shopping on the first day of school. He now has “everything he needs for school.” He likes to tell his friends. He doesn’t start for two more weeks. Whenever I ask him what I’ll do when he leaves me he says, “Don’t worry I’ll come back and chat with you. It will only be for a minute.” Kids are precious. The first Friday of school we got a visit from some of our favorite people! These guys lived across the street from us in LA, then we moved here and they gallivanted over to Boston. It was so nice to spend the afternoon with them.
