Last week we experienced our first pinewood derby. There was a lot of excitement and a little bit of nerves around out house. Josh and Justin spent HOURS studying the physics behind making a fast car. – So much so that Josh wants to use that as his science fair project this year. He decided he didn’t want to paint or decorate his car in anyway. Justin and I both asked him multiple times if he was sure about that. He would be the only car not painted – and that’s totally fine, but he needed to for sure be ok with that. He said he was. Actually, he said, “I want to be the ghetto car that nobody thinks anything of that wins.”
I said, “Ok as long as your ok if you end up being the ghetto car that doesn’t win”. He said he was.
But during the races – he was soo soo nervous. Just look at that face. He couldn’t eat dinner because he said it would make him puke. He started out so strong. Blowing everyone completely away… and was so so excited. I tried to get a picture of his exuberant fist pump and jump after each of his races but I only had my phone and it came out too blurry.
In the end he ended up with a third place title overall and second in wolves. Which he was very happy with. Afterwards though, Justin realigned the wheels and the raced the two people that won again… and Josh beat them both. I just thought that should go on record:) Good thing he gets to try again next year.
