Josh knows how to maximize his birthday. We started the Sunday before with a party at Gram’s house. I should have taken a picture of the food. Homemade shrimp and pork egg rolls, cashew chicken and apple pie for dessert. However, none of his presents had arrived yet, so he got some delicious food, hugs and more to look forward too. He got to open his present from us the night before. Justin knows me well and knew I couldn’t handle waiting until he got home from work, so the night before it was. A skate board and a new backpack. Everyone wanted to try it out. On his actual birthday he got a waffle breakfast, out to lunch with his Dad, and Grams and Adam stopped by with their presents for him. Unfortunately, things went down hill after that. About an hour before his party he was lying on the couch (which is very uncharacteristic) I asked him if he was OK and he burst into tears.
“No I’m not. But I didn’t want to tell you because I thought you’d cancel my party.” His party was part of his present. He’d been begging to go to House of Jump for months. I felt his forehead and he had a fever and said it hurt to move.
So I asked him,
“Do you want to cancel it? We can and I can take you and a couple of friends another day when you feel better.”
“No! please don’t. I’m fine I feel much better now.” more tears.
So being the awesome Mom that I am. I gave him some Tylenol and then awhile later some IB Profen, we said a prayer, sanitized everything we could, told Josh not to touch anyone, and took off. He had a blast. Crashed after the party and was fine by the next morning. Weirdest thing every.
Justin couldn’t resist getting himself a pass and joining in on all the fun. He’s still got some dunking skills. The boys played dodge ball for at least 45 minutes. I love these blurry action shots.
MAx got a little sweaty So did Anna. I’m so grateful he has this good group of friends to hang out with. And I’m so grateful I did his party at House of Jump because they are crazy! They sat still long enough to wold down four pieces of pizza each and then they were off again. Whew.
