My baby girl is six. I am sappy and I am sentimental. This is her testing out her new birthday presents. Hours of entertainment I tell you.
She got to celebrate for two weeks straight.
Breakfast with Grams and a new art kit.
Ice skating with cousins… It was a friend party year… but more than anything Anna wanted to go ice skating with her cousins. Surreptitiously two families of cousins were in town the weekend before her birthday. She was a happy girl. And everyone had fun! I was so relieved. It could really have gone either way with ages 3-8 – but even Max could do it all by himself by the end. Pretty sure all the adults were sore from skating behind children trying to keep them from falling – but in general it was a win.
She got an easel from Mom and Dad and a cook book from an Auntie.
She was very excited about both. I read recently that both giving and receiving gifts is a talent. Anna has the receiving gifts part down. She is delighted with everything. Which makes giving her stuff way too much fun.
A lunch date with her Daddy….
The park with a friend. In this delightful matching outfit and “Poofy pigtails” Poofy because they haven’t been brushed yet….I bit my tongue, just for the birthday girl.
Dinner with some great grandparents (She has 10 grandparents still alive!) and a doll bunk bed made by Mom and Grandpa Jim.
Oh and a trivia game with her favorite topics (I was going to include dance and gymnastics but I forgot)
Categories included: Scripture Heroes, Ever After High. Disney Princesses, Frozen, Anna, and Her Family. We did this game for Josh when he was star student and Anna thought it was the coolest. It might become a birthday tradition.
The grandparents were such good sports to play with us. And Anna felt adored.
My six favorite things about Anna are:
Her sweetness. Her prayers usually go something like: “Help all the poor people, and the naked people, and the ones that don’t have houses…” She constantly gives me money to send to our boy in Brazil (We sponsor a child through World Vision) and is so so sweet to both her brothers and her parents.
This note is my favorite…. When I got after her for being whiny I received this approximately 3.5 seconds later. “I love you Mom. I am so sorry I was being mean. I love you so much!”
Her testimony. She wanted to do her science project on how the first spirit got into a body on earth. I told her that wasn’t testable with the scientific method with a completely straight face.
The way she mixes up words. Molita for Sayulita. (a food and a place). The MTC as the empty seat… and she never gets embarrassed she just laughs right along with everyone else.
Her love of organizing, art, dance, gymnastics, and competitive streak. Ok maybe that shouldn’t all count as one, but there are so many things I love about this little girl. She gets excited for job day, dances instead of walking, does cartwheels, handstands and backbends constantly, and was so intense at soccer this year. That girl wanted to WIN dang it, and specifically score goals herself!
Her sense of fashion. You just never know what your going to get. Birthday outfit in the park picture is a perfect example.
Love you sparkly, beautiful. Anna Bug!
